Shooting at 720P/24fps, we can get about 20 minutes of video on each of the 2 P2 cards. We set up a laptop on location and use it to import the footage into Final Cut.
#Panasonic p2 card camera how to#
The person I was talking to thought the new E cards could function a lot longer than the software cycle was going to allow. These are not low-light cameras.) Learning how to shoot tapeless onto the P2 cards is a bit daunting at first, but, once you catch on, its not difficult and has been reliable. Some machines would last double the hours the manufacturer would recommend before needing replacement while others barely lasted what the manufacturer recommended. An example in this field was how long would video heads last on a machine. It inherits Panasonic’s accumulated broadcast technologies and know-how to offer high performance, easy operation and excellent versatility rivaling many shoulder-type models. The AJ-PX270 features the AVC-ULTRA 1 codec family and support the microP2 card. #Panasonic p2 card camera upgrade#
Panasonic charges 100 to do the upgrade but it’s easy to do yourself. Previously this camera had been used with Firestore drives only so it needed the latest firmware. There is a good chance that 95 percent of the cards would last substantially longer. The AJ-PX270 is a compact, lightweight professional ENG camera recorder for broadcast applications. The HVX200 camera we used with the new 64GB P2 cards needed to be upgraded in order to recognize the card. Guarantee it for a number of cycles which 99.9 percent of the cards can achieve without problem. Most manufacturers would underestimate the durability of their products in this case so they don't run into too many early failures requiring reimbursement. It remains to be seen if someone will try and extend the life of an E version card after the software has reached its designated cycle cut off. My experience with harddrives is they tend to fail to be reliable when the software has to map out new bad sectors. I don't take this sources opinion lightly as they have had many years in the business.

I heard a different explanation more recently which made me doubt the initial explanation. I also heard the explanation you are referring to of how the new E cards worked when they first came out.
